Remembering José Teixeira: A Devoted President and Formidable Player

It is with great sadness that the Badminton Club of Castelnaudary learned of the death of José Teixeira, aged 61 last week. José was the second president of the Club, thus taking over from Gérald Level, first president and founder of the Club in 1993. Arrived from the Paris region, where he already practiced badminton at a good level, particularly in men’s doubles, he took up residence in Castelnaudary in the early 2000s with his family and in 2001 joined the B.C.CA. He then took over the presidency for many years and brought to it his self-sacrifice, his courage, his team spirit and his great generosity. Recognized by all the players who have crossed his path, but also by elected officials, partners and institutions. He will focus his policy in particular on young people, on whom he will base his hopes each season, often paying off, since from his policy will come the most distinguished labels that the club has known and the best results also ever achieved. His hobbyhorse: qualified coaches, capable of pulling this small club from Aude up to the level of the big ones in Occitania. The club also owes him the hosting of the French championships in Castelnaudary in 2006, an incursion of the first team into National 3 as well as numerous regional championship titles. José was president of course, but above all a player and a formidable doubles partner. Captain of the first team B.C.CA several years, he will ensure, with his partners, then with the next generation, that the club remains at the highest level. The club will therefore honor José at its next events and invites all those who knew him to honor his memory. We will especially remember his generosity, his altruism and his courage. Our thoughts go of course to his family, his wife and children in particular, to whom we wish just as much courage to get through this painful ordeal.

Forever in our bad hearts!
