In the qualification that took place over the weekend, the Latvian collected 77.20 and 79.08 points, or an average of 78.14 points, which was the 14th best result. The best 24 athletes qualified for the final on Monday.

Tokyo Olympic champion Logan Martin of Australia was unbeaten in both qualifying races, averaging 89.26 points.

Valters Klēpis was in 46th place with 44.86 points, while Tomas Grīnbergs was in 57th position with 35.54 points in the competition of 66 athletes.

The World Championship in cycling sports will take place in Glasgow until August 13.
