Sorianos Shine in Spanish Badminton Team for Senior World Championships in South Korea

The technical direction of the Spanish Badminton Federation has made public the call for the members of the team that will represent it in the Senior World Championships in South Korea and that has four from Soriano among the thirteen players chosen.

The Soria-CS24 Badminton Club will provide two players, David Hernansanz and Santiago Martínez.

David would compete in the individual and mixed doubles modalities, together with Esther Segarra from Álava, both in the +40 category, while the men’s double will do so together with Sebastián López in the +35 category.

For his part, Santiago Martínez will be the only Spaniard among the +45 players. He will play the singles and mixed doubles draw with his usual partner, Beatriz Martín from Extremadura. He will complete the performance of the male double with Sergio Latorre from Burgos at +40, forming a fully Soria couple.

The other two Sorianos in the Korean event will be Sergio Latorre and Cristina Puebla from AD89 from El Burgo de Osma.

Both will play the three modalities within the 40-year-old group. In addition to the singles, and the mixed doubles as a couple, Sergio will play the aforementioned doubles while Cristina will share with Esther Segarra from Álava in the women’s double.

The World Championships will be held between September 11 and 17 in Jeonju, a town south of Seoul. The Sorianos have had to modify their training plan with hardly any rest during these summer months to achieve optimum fitness for the World Cup event.
