Students from the Ngäbe Buglé Comarca innovate with a robot that measures the PH of the soil

The Entrepreneurs team of the Llano Tugrí Educational Center, located in the Ngäbe Buglé Comarca, participated in the fifteenth Regional Robotics Olympics with the Darwin project, which is an automated robot that is responsible for measuring the ph in the soil, the temperature and the humidity.

The student Marbelia Venado explained that this project was born from the problem that agricultural crops have in the region, which suffer biotic and abiotic damage, fungus and climate change and that is how a tool (robot) is created to monitor in real time , the necessary soil data so that the products are healthy and thus help producers make decisions.

“In the engineering part, I segmented the robot in such a way that, in the upper part, the arduino board, the various sensors, the battery were located,” explained Lucy Jiménez, a student at this school.

Irving Martínez, advisor to the Emprendedoras team, said that one of the factors that helped them the most to get ahead with this project was the commitment of the young women, there were many hours of work, dedication and they committed 100% to working on the project. and move it forward.

“In this fifteenth Regional Robotics Olympics, held at the Tomás Jefferson School, approximately 120 teams, 60 coaches and approximately 351 students participated,” according to Matías Robles, coordinator of the regional and national robotics Olympics.

He added that teams from Chiriquí, Veraguas, Herrera, Panama Centro, among others, participated, looking for a place to go to the robotics national, there will be 25 teams that will qualify for the national, in which 16 teams are expected to qualify representing the 8 categories that will represent us in the robotics world championship.

On August 11, in the province of Colón, the sixteenth and last regional robotics Olympics will take place.
