U-23 Thailand national team coach Issara Sritarosaid his team had forgotten the incident of commotion that occurred with Indonesia in the 2023 SEA Games final ahead of their meeting in the semifinals AFF U-23 Cup 2023, Thursday (24/8).
Indonesia vs Thailand will meet in the semifinals of the 2023 AFF U-23 Cup at the Rayong Stadium, Thailand, starting at 20.00 WIB. This is the first meeting between the U-23 and Thailand national teams since the incident that occurred in the 2023 SEA Games final, May 16.
At that time Sritaro led the U-23 Thailand national team when they were defeated by Indonesia 2-5 in the 2023 SEA Games final. Meanwhile, Indonesia was coached by Indra Sjafri.
“The meeting in the past is over. That match [final SEA Games 2023]when it’s over on the field, it’s over,” said Sritaro SMM Sport.
As many as 15 Indonesian and Thai players and officials were punished by the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) after the incident of commotion in the 2023 SEA Games final.
Sritaro said the Thai national team had forgotten about the commotion incident. Sritaro said that the meeting between Indonesia and Thailand in the semifinals of the 2023 AFF U-23 Cup was a different match.
“Everything will be different in this match. All players want to perform well and we will try to win in the match. I’m sure this will be an interesting match,” said Sritaro.
“Even though the two teams can’t bring their best strength, I’m sure all the players are ready to play and give 100 percent performance,” Sritaro continued.
Meanwhile, coach of the U-23 Indonesian National Team Shin Tae Yong thinks Thailand has the best team in the 2023 AFF U-23 Cup.
“I saw several matches conducted by Thailand, I also saw matches from Malaysia. I think Thailand has a good squad in this tournament among all the participants. For tomorrow’s match [Kamis malam]we will do our best, and play in the best way possible,” said STY.
