The reasons behind the suspension of Saints running back Alvin Kamara

Alvin Kamara will be absent at the start of the 2023-24 NFL season due to the incident he starred in at a Las Vegas nightclub.

The NFL announced this Friday that the New Orleans Saints running back, Alvin Kamara, was suspended for three games in the 2023-24 season for the incident he starred in a Las Vegas nightclub in 2022, in which he was the center of a fight.

Kamara reached a plea deal in July and no longer faces serious charges for the incident that happened before the Pro Bowl in February 2022.

“I was completely wrong. I embarrassed the Saints, I embarrassed my family and my mother. I embarrassed myself, I embarrassed the city and the shield, obviously, I embarrassed the NFL,” Kamara said, according to NFL.com.

Kamara, the 2017 Offensive Rookie of the Year, will miss games against the Tennessee Titans, Carolina Panthers and Green Bay Packers, becoming eligible to return at home against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on October 1.

Also involved in the NFL’s punishment was cornerback Chris Lammons, who was with Kamara in the incident and will miss three games after signing with the Indianapolis Colts last week.

A 5-time Pro Bowler, Kamara had 223 carries for 897 yards and two rushing touchdowns last season in 15 games with the Saints; he in addition to adding 490 yards and two aerial touchdowns after 57 receptions.
