Theo Walcott Announces Retirement and Plans to End Career at Southampton

Former England international wanted to hang up his boots at Southampton, where it all began

Theo Walcott announced, this Friday, the end of his career. At the age of 34, the former England international decides to hang up his boots despite, according to himself, still having several proposals to continue playing.

“I’m lucky to have received offers to continue playing, but it seems right to finish where I started”, said the winger, referring to Southampton, the emblem where he played and where he started his path before heading to Arsenal, the club where he shone the most and where he scored more than 100 goals in almost 400 games. For the England national team, he won 8 times in a total of 47 caps.

“The first moment I put my boots on at the age of 10 was the start of a special journey for me. From playing in the park with friends to performing in some of the biggest stadiums in front of huge crowds across the world. shown to me during this time has been amazing in every way and I am truly grateful,” Walcott said in an Instagram post.
