Tony Parker, Gregg Popovich, Dwayne Wade, Dirk Nowitzki, and Pau Gasol Inducted into Hall of Fame: A Reflection on Their Paths and Dedication to Family and Kobe Bryant

Tony Parker, Gregg Popovich, Dwayne Wade, Dirk Nowitzki and Pau Gasol were inducted into the Hall of Fame tonight in Springfield. He dedicated his speech to all the special people who have contributed to his path as a player.

“Many people have contributed to my career, but none like my family. My parents played, at an amateur level, and they handed down their passion to me. To my brothers Marc and Adrià. I grew up especially with Marc: we played in the backyard, he tried to beat me. Going forward we played for our country and won many medals, we were traded for each other (must be the first time that happens to two brothers). Adrià wasn’t particularly interested in basketball, but he is the only one in the family with a degree in business administration. And then my wife… the transition from the NBA to a new life is a shock. Especially from an emotional point of view. And she helped me through all of that.”

Gasol then continued talking about Kobe Bryant.

“It was in Los Angeles that I met the person who made me improve the most, who made me understand what it takes to be the best. Kobe I wouldn’t be here without you. I wish I had you and Gigi by my side brother today and every day. I miss you.”
