Carlos Alcaraz will play his first match at the ATP Masters 1000 tournament in Toronto on Wednesday

Nothing against Hubert Hurkacz or Tommy Paul, but the real masses draw others. And so at the ATP Masters 1000 tournament in Toronto, Wednesday will be the first real indicator for the tournament organizers of the traditional hard court event in terms of audience participation this year. In addition to the second appearance of local hero Milos Raonic (against qualifier Taro Daniel), the big names are at the start on today’s matchday.

According to Raonic, the Greek Stefanos Tsitsipas makes the center court unsafe. And his opponent in the person of crowd favorite Gael Monfils practically calls for the compulsory television date at around 8:00 p.m. (CEST). Unless you’d rather watch Daniil Medvedev (against the Italian Matteo Arnaldi) or the German Alexander Zverev (against the Spaniard Alejandro Davidovich Fokina) at work – the two games take place in a similar time window on the grand stand.

The night session also knows how to please

But the night sessions from 1:00 a.m. in our latitude also make couch potatoes or spectators happy: Tournament favorite Carlos Alcaraz first duels with the US boy Ben Shelton, before Holger Rune and the qualifier Marcos Giron (also USA) show off their skills in the 12,500-seat arena.

The inner-Italian battle between Matteo Berrettini and Jannik Sinner also promises excitement, and the matches between Andrey Rublev (Russia) and Mackenzie McDonald (USA) or Andy Murray (Great Britain) against Auger-Aliassime conqueror Max Purcell (Australia) are real eye-catchers.

A great evening of tennis, where the choice is difficult. What more do you want.

Here is the individual tableau from Toronto.
