Torrelavega City Council Begins Bidding Process for Municipal Sports Schools Management

The Torrelavega City Council has started the bidding process for the management, teaching and teaching of the Municipal Sports Schools for the next 4 years, with a bidding budget of 2 million euros. The deadline for submitting bids is August 7.

The Councilor for Sports and Youth, Nacho González, has indicated that the EDM have become a “benchmark” in Cantabria and one of the causes of the sporting “successes” that Torrelaveguenses athletes are obtaining in different disciplines.

For this reason, the objective of the Consistory is to “maintain this commitment” to grassroots sport throughout this legislature, as it has stressed in a statement.

In the last year, they had 1,762 students distributed in the 16 schools: basketball, chess, athletics, badminton, handball, bowling and management of the bowling alleys, cycling, climbing, rhythmic gymnastics, judo, mountain biking, swimming, skating and line hockey. , children’s tennis, table tennis and volleyball.

Regarding the objectives of the EDM, the mayor has indicated that they go through “guaranteeing” access to all citizens to practice sport in “equal” conditions and opportunities; “promote” an ideal environment for practicing sports, “promote” sports and healthy habits, “educate” in the proper use of free time, contribute to “comprehensive training”, contribute to the “physical improvement” of students and the detection of talents, among others.

MUNICIPAL SPORTS ACTIVITIES

Regarding the bidding process for the management, delivery and teaching of Municipal Sports Activities, González explained that the appeal presented by the Spanish Association of Sports Services Entrepreneurs to the Public Administrations has been admitted and will proceed from the Sports Service to the elaboration of the necessary documentation in order to proceed with the initiation of a new contracting procedure.

The municipal intention, said González, is that this situation does not affect the normal development of Municipal Sports Activities.

Finally, he recalled that the City Council offers: adult climbing, maintenance gymnastics in the Old Havana pavilion, maintenance gymnastics in the Vicente Trueba pavilion, adult judo, maintenance gymnastics in the María Pardo pavilion, bodybuilding, maintenance swimming-various aquatic activities -summer early childhood courses- winter and summer pool lifeguarding, and adult tennis and summer courses, with a total of 518 users.
