Two Young Graduates from Chaumont Badminton Club Selected for Top Elite Regional Youth Tournament

Two young graduates from Chaumont Badminton Club have been selected for the Top Elite Regional Youth tournament to be held this Thursday, August 31 in Alsace. A first for the two acolytes.

The frills fuse and the cheeks heat up this Tuesday, August 22, at the La Rochotte college gymnasium. After a month and a half of summer break, it’s time to resume training for Manon Vollot, 8, and Elsa Comte, 9. At the beginning of July, the two graduates of the Badminton club of Chaumont welcomed with great emotion the news of their selection for the Top Elite Regional Young tournament, organized by the Grand Est League.

Thursday August 31 in Kembs, in Alsace therefore, the two young girls will both line up in the “chicks” category. Manon, “minibad” so far, is delighted. “It was a big surprise, because during the season, the youngsters up to the youngest don’t have a ranking. We therefore do not know how to place them at the level of the Grand-Est League. This success is part of the structuring of the Chaumont Badminton Club, which is becoming one of the committee’s driving clubs,” explains Delphine Catalifaud, the club’s new president.

Ready to fight

Their selection therefore already represents a great victory. “I feel like I’m at the Olympics,” Manon said excitedly earlier. However, the two Chaumontaises are far from their first attempt. With about one competition per month, the past season will have been rich. Elsa was notably selected to represent the Aube/Haute-Marne committee at InterCodep 2022-2023. And for one as for the other, apprehension does not yet seem to take over the spirit of competition. Yet this desire to win, Elsa has pegged to the body.

In just one year of practice, his progress is promising. “Before my arrival at the club, I had only really played badminton in my garden“, she says with a smile. An arrival also noticed by the president of the club: “She seems shy, but on the ground, she is transformed. She and Manon really lift each other up”. The conditions therefore seem to be in place to challenge each other, Thursday 31, and perhaps have a great experience.

The Chaumont Badminton Club gives pride of place to young people

The Chaumont Badminton Club has 160 members, including 64 young people. For the latter, one of the two slots is already full, while the other only has a few places left. These elements testify to the structuring of the club, which has just been labeled “3-star French badminton school”.

Both “chicks” for the next season, Elsa and Manon will now play together all the time! After only a year at the club, Elsa impresses with her level. Manon started badminton at the age of 5. After three years of practice, she will therefore become a “chick” next season.
