For the first time in 25 years, the US Open will not be broadcast on Eurosport. The last tennis Grand Slam tournament will run from 2023 on Sportdeutschland.TV.
Munich – The US Open, the last of the four Grand Slam tennis tournaments of the season, will be played from August 28 to September 10 in Flushing Meadows, a borough of New York. The individual champions are Carlos Alcaraz for men and Iga Swiatek for women.

Novak Djokovic is allowed to participate again at the US Open 2023
The US Open comprises a total of five categories. In addition to the two singles competitions, the winners in men’s doubles, women’s doubles and mixed doubles will also be determined. Before the main tournament, a qualifying round will take place from August 22nd to 25th, in which 16 places will be awarded for the main draw. 128 players compete in each of the two individual competitions.
As in 2022, Russian and Belarusian tennis players will be allowed to participate in the Grand Slam tournament in 2023. In contrast to last year, players who have not been vaccinated against the corona virus are also allowed to participate this year. Novak Djokovic had to cancel his participation for this reason.

Time difference: US Open games in Germany in the late afternoon or evening
There are seven rounds from the opening game to the final. The games are played according to the best-of-five format that is common in Grand Slam tournaments.
Due to the time difference, the games in Germany take place either in the early evening or at night. New York time is six hours behind Central European Time. The morning session in Germany therefore begins at 5 p.m. and the evening session at 11 p.m.
Sportdeutschland.TV acquires broadcasting rights for US Open from Eurosport
The women’s final is scheduled for Saturday, September 9th at 10 p.m. and the men’s final for Sunday, September 10th at 10 p.m. The tournament bracket draw is still pending, but the top 32 players in the world rankings are seeded.
There is a significant change regarding broadcasting in Germany. After 25 years Eurosport lost the broadcasting rights of the US Open. From 2023, the sports streaming platform Sportdeutschland.TV broadcast the games.
Sportdeutschland.TV has announced that all games will be available live and on demand on the internet. In addition, the streaming platform will provide daily highlights on all of its channels. It is still unclear which content will be free and which will be paid for. Sportdeutschland.TV will announce this at a later date.
