Venus Williams beat a player in the world’s top 20 for the first time in four years and advanced to the second round of the Cincinnati tennis tournament.
The 43-year-old American defeated the number 16 seeded Russian Veronika Kudermetova on Monday (local time) after being 4-1 down in both sets 6-4, 7-5.
Since 2019, the seven-time Grand Slam winner had lost ten games in a row against top 20 players.
