3:24 hours were on the clock on court number four when the Argentinian Cerundolo clenched his fist to reach the round of 16. Three sets were behind him and the German Yannick Hanfmann, who lost both tie-breaks of the game.
After a mostly constant first set by both players, the second set with six lost service games came as a small break festival. With the better end for the tenth seeded German. But that day the necessary security was missing with his own serve. Again, both opponents wobbled at the score of 5: 4, Hanfman already fended off two match balls, whose third attempt was used by Cerundolo in the tie-break.

Alexander Erler and Lucas Miedler also had to accept defeat that day. the top Austrian double lost to number three seeded combination Hugo Nys and Marcel Zielinski 2:6, 4:6. Sebastian Ofner also retired after his singles defeat in the doubles competition alongside Max Purcell. 2:6, 1:6 was the scoreboard after 53 minutes against Escobar/Nedovyesov.
