3:24 hours were on the clock on court number four when the Argentinian Cerundolo clenched his fist to reach the round of 16. Three sets were behind him and the German Yannick Hanfmann, who lost both tie-breaks of the game.

After a mostly constant first set by both players, the second set with six lost service games came as a small break festival. With the better end for the tenth seeded German.
