Yannick Hanfmann failed in round one of the ATP Masters 1000 tournament in Cincinnati
Tennis pro Yannick Hanfmann failed as quickly as possible at the ATP Masters in Cincinnati. The 31-year-old from Karlsruhe lost to local hero Mackenzie McDonald in the first round after 1:45 hours 5:7, 1:6. Hanfmann, who was last eliminated in Hamburg and Kitzbühel in the round of 16, was dealing with the American for the first time on the ATP tour.
Since Daniel Altmaier, as a lucky loser, had previously lost to the Australian Alexei Popyrin at the start of the tournament (7: 6, 4: 6, 4: 6), Olympic champion Alexander Zverev is the last remaining German player in Cincinnati. Hamburg’s 6: 2, 6: 2 against the experienced Bulgarian Grigor Dimitrov confidently advanced and meets the Japanese Yoshihito Nishioka in round two on Wednesday.
Here the single tableau from Cincinnati.
