The FIGC has formalized the hiring of Andrea Soncin as the new technical commissioner of the women’s national football team. Soncin, a former striker with a long career between Serie B and C, had coached Venezia’s youth team for six years and in 2022 was for a short period coach of the first team between Serie A and Serie B. He will be presented on 18 September in the Federal Technical Center of Coverciano together with his deputy, Viviana Schiavi, former player and coach of the Under 16 women’s national team.
Italy comes from the disappointing World Cup in Australia and New Zealand which ended with an elimination in the groups, after which there were disagreements between the players, the technical staff of former coach Milena Bertolini and the Federation. The national team’s next matches will be in the Nations League against Switzerland on 22 September and then on the 26th against Sweden.
