Bagnaia after the Misano Sprint: ‘I thought I had less pain. We need rest but…’

Only six days ago he was involved in an impressive accident in Barcelona, with the very bad highside at the second corner of the GP Catalunya and Brad Binder’s KTM which hit him on the right leg a few seconds later. An accident from which Pecco Bagnaia he emerged, ailments aside, unharmed. At Misano the reigning world champion showed up not in the best condition, but just enough to win a suffered third place in the Sprint Race. “Today was really tough, but it was important to have a base on which to work for Sunday’s GP – Pecco told Sky Sport -. I had a lot pain, especially in right turns where I often went long. The therapy is working but we need rest for these beatings. Unfortunately there is no time… I still expected improvement, but the pain remained constant and, particularly in the first few laps, the knee wasn’t so good. In any case, it was essential to get back on track: today we only lost 5 points instead of 12“. The Turin driver remains firmly leader of the World Championship with 45 points ahead of Jorge Martindominator of the Sprint.

The suffering after the finish line

The image immortalized by the cameras after crossing the finish line and parking his Desmosedici also bears witness to the pain that Bagnaia had to live with during the 13 laps of the Misano Sprint. Pecco remained for an interminable few seconds bent double over the handlebarsbefore struggling down and thanking the audience who cheered him with a kiss.
