As expected, it was only a small group that came together on the training ground in Borussia Park on Monday. In the absence of ten professionals on international duty and three injured players, coach Gerardo Seoane was only able to welcome 13 outfield players to the first session of the week. However, one returnee was also among them: Christoph Kramer.

In mid-July, the midfielder tore an inner ligament in his knee. On Monday he wasn’t able to complete the entire program, but he was able to complete large parts of the training session with his colleagues. Kramer’s integration was planned for the international break, now the next step can take place. But the 32-year-old remains cautious with forecasts.

“In my career so far I’ve never been injured in preparation, so it’s difficult for me to estimate when I’ll be at 100 percent again. But since I’ve been out for more than six weeks, it will certainly take a while,” said the veteran.

Koné continues in individual training

Manu Koné, who is still doing an individual program after his knee injury, is not quite as far as Kramer. Captain Jonas Omlin (shoulder injury) and Luca Netz (muscular problems) were also absent.

Traveling with their national teams are Nico Elvedi (Switzerland), Max Wöber (Austria), Grant-Leon Ranos (Armenia), Tomas Cvancara (Czech Republic), Yvandro Borges Sanches (Luxembourg), Joe Scally (USA), Ko Itakura (Japan). ), Lukas Ullrich (Germany U20), Simon Walde (Germany U19) and Fabio Chiarodia (Italy U19). Also not there: goalkeeping coach Fabian Otte, who is on the road for the first time in his new (part-time) job as goalkeeping coach for the US national team. Milenko Gilic, who is usually in charge of goalkeeper training for the U23s, takes care of Borussia’s keeper during this international break.

After the other sessions on Tuesday and Wednesday, the Foals will play the friendly against Werder Bremen on Thursday in Willingen (kick-off 5:30 p.m.).
