Controversial Transfer Deal Raises Questions for Ajax and Sven Mislintat

This deal could have repercussions!

In the summer, Sven Mislintat (50), in his role as technical director of Ajax Amsterdam, brought VfB defender Borna Sosa (25) to Holland for eight million euros. The record champions are now having this transfer investigated, as the Dutch broadcaster “NOS” first reported.

The problem: Sosa changed his consulting agency shortly before the change. Instead of ICM Stellar, AKA Global suddenly handled the deal. Arthur Beck and Kerim Cerit’s agency is entrepreneurially linked to, of all things, Mislintat.

Since the end of June 2023, AKA Global GmbH has held 3.16 percent of Matchmetrics GmbH. Matchmetrics specializes in football data analysis and was co-founded by Mislintat. As a partner, he holds a 30 percent stake in the company.

Mislintat is accused of not transparently disclosing that AKA Global had a stake in his company as part of the deal with Sosa. A conflict of interest that represents a major problem for a public company like Ajax. The internal investigation is now intended to clarify exactly how the deal worked and who cashed in.

According to BILD information, Mislintat cooperates with his employer and presents documents and contracts relating to his work to Ajax. Apart from Sosa, AKA Global GmbH is said not to have been involved in any of his 24 summer transfers.

It is currently unclear whether his actions have consequences. Mislintat had already been criticized for the botched start to the season and twelfth place after four match days. The new vortex comes at the wrong time for him.
