Crossminton Steenwijk Offers Lessons to Introduce Dynamic Racket Sport

After a successful last season, Crossminton Steenwijk is starting lessons again. During the national sports week (15 to 24 September) everyone can become acquainted with this dynamic racket sport.

Crossminton is a young, dynamic sport and provides action, fun, speed and excitement. It is a combination of tennis, badminton and squash. Elements of these three well-known sports can be found in the material, technology and competition field. The racket is best referred to as a mini-squash racket and a match is played on half a tennis court. The two halves are 12.8 meters apart and there is no net. The speeder (mini shuttle) is smaller and heavier than a traditional badminton shuttle, which allows it to cover a large distance and allows for quick stroke changes. The sport can be played both indoors and outdoors.

The lessons are for adults (over 18 years old) on Tuesday evening, September 19 from 7:00 PM to 8:00 PM in the Racket and Fitness Center in Tuk. Next season, youth aged 12 and over can also get acquainted with Crossminton. The trial lessons are on Friday afternoon, September 22 from 4:30 PM to 5:30 PM.

The try-out lessons are provided by Marcel van der Laan, winner of the Rein Gaal Cup during the Steenwijkerland sports election 2022. Under his expert guidance, the participants are explained the principles of the sport and have ample opportunity to get started themselves. The necessary material is available. Participants must bring their own indoor sports shoes.
