Delays and Setbacks at Viola Park: Architect Marco Casamonti Speaks Out

Today’s Corriere dello Sport analyzes the issue of delays at Viola Park, also reporting the words of architect Marco Casamonti

The Corriere dello Sport today, analyzes the issue of delays Viola Parkalso reporting the words of the architect behind the project for the new purple house, Marco Casamonti. As the newspaper writes, the structure is spread over 26 hectares of land and includes 12 regular fields, 67 offices, 12 pavilions, 400 car parks, 19 meeting rooms, 75 rooms, restaurants, shops, bars, a wellness area, a doctor and two mini stadiums. Offices and teams have already moved here, but external visitors cannot access, although 6 out of 7 projects have been approved, in fact, the one relating to the two mini stadiums (Curva Fiesole with 3000 seats and Davide Astori with 1500 seats) is at a standstill. According to the architect Casamonti: “For two stadiums dedicated to young people and children, the law imposes the same limits as San Siro and the Olimpico. We are talking about outdated regulations that do not help those who have vision and decide to invest, like Commisso and Fiorentina. We wanted two mini-stadiums without barriers (…). It was not possible and therefore we gave up the exemption which would have further lengthened the time, returning to the traditional project”. Fiorentina, as reported by the newspaper, was thus forced to raise the fences, to modify the road system and to protect the windows of the restaurant which is located on the pitch level. In July the club would have adapted to a series of requests but, faced with new indications to satisfy, now feels cheated. “All this also goes against the trend of UEFA regulations, which instead aim for football without barriers” – also stated the Fiorentina general manager Joe Barone.
