Disrespectful Spectators Disrupt Minute of Silence at Bayern vs. Manchester United Match: Prompt Reaction Ensues

Suddenly a loud “snout” echoed through the Allianz Arena.

Shortly before the end of the minute’s silence on the occasion of the natural disasters in Morocco and Libya, some troublemakers caused displeasure before the Champions League game between FC Bayern and Manchester United (in the LIVETICKER on SPORT1) – and received the corresponding reaction.

Instead of remembering the victims of the earthquake in Morocco and the flood disaster in Libya, some spectators felt they had to disturb the silence with heckling.

The counterattack came promptly: first from a single fan, who clearly called for calm with the exclamation “Shut up” – and a little later from the entire guest block, who acknowledged the disruption with a shrill concert of whistles.

A little later, referee Glenn Nyberg ended the minute’s silence, and stadium announcer Stefan Lehmann thanked – at least the part of the spectators who had been able to behave in the previous seconds.

In terms of sport, however, things went much more smoothly for Bayern. After initial defensive difficulties, the German record champions were already leading 2-0 at the break thanks to goals from Leroy Sané and Serge Gnabry.
