Dog Café, Contract Adjustments, and Park Upgrades Discussed at Sorel-Tracy Municipal Council Meeting

(Stéphane Martin, September 22, 2023) – Dog café, contract adjustment and fences in various city parks are all subjects discussed during the last ordinary meeting of the Sorel-Tracy municipal council.

Setting up a dog café

A zoning modification request was made for the building at 44-46, rue du Prince in order to establish a Canine Café. “According to the information submitted by the applicant, this will be a place where people can have coffee and eat while bringing their leashed dog inside. Dogs will also be able to eat since there is a menu for dogs. A reception room and a grooming service will also be available and animal products will be on sale on site,” explains the communications advisor to the City of Sorel-Tracy, Marie-Lise Tellier.

The zoning modification request was adopted unanimously by the councilors present. The council, however, refused the addition of the additional use “presentation of shows” by opting for a use “Restaurant and establishment with restricted service”.

Modification of contract for work on rue du Collège

An additional expense of $81,300.07, net, was granted for work to replace the main pipes of the aqueduct network as well as the combined sewer pipe on rue du Collège, between rue du Roi and rue du Prince.

The work which was carried out last year and which was completed this spring experienced certain complications. Unforeseen events related to excavation and soil caused additional delays and costs and it was the adjustment of this contract that was settled on Monday during the meeting.

Installation and replacement of fences in various city parks

Clôtures Sécuribec Sorel-Tracy was selected as the lowest compliant bidder to install and replace fences in various city parks for the sum of $166,329.12, all taxes included.

Here is the list of parks that will undergo a facelift:

-Dorimene-Desjardins Park: replacement of the baseball field fence. It will be replaced and extended in height.

-Parc des Trembles: replacement of the ball stopper on the baseball field.

-Réal-Lemieux Park: installation of fences around the baseball field.

-Monseigneur-Nadeau Park: installation of fences around the community garden area.
