From this Friday until Sunday, Salamanca will host the eighth edition of the International Spanish Open Pickleball. This test brings together more than 500 of the best players in the world from countries such as Spain, Portugal, Italy, France, the United States, South Korea, Canada and Australia.
The Salamanca City Council collaborates in holding this tournament, organized by the Spanish Pickleball Association and the Salamanca Pickleball Association, which brings together participants of all ages and from different categories –men’s and women’s singles, men’s doubles and women’s and mixed doubles- whose matches are played at the Río Tormes and Campo de Tiro y Deportes de Salamanca municipal facilities.
In addition, in the days prior to the start of the tournament, the organization held several open days to bring this sport closer to the whole world. The Councilor for Sports, Almudena Parres, was also present at the event.
Pickleball is a paddle or racket sport that in its game combines elements of tennis, paddle tennis, badminton and ping pong or table tennis. It is a sports discipline that is easy to learn, fast paced and very fun to play due to the long rally times that can occur during the match.
