The first round of the Livesport Superliga in the new year 2023/2024 is completely played. It started pretty sharp, because Bohemians beat Tatran Střešovice after raids. Chodov recorded a surprisingly high 11:6 win over Sparta, and Pardubice also shone, beating BLACK ANGELS. Liberec also did well against Královské Vinohrady.
A great start to the Livesport Superliga! The duel between Bohemians and Tatran started already on Friday and both teams showed that they are ready for the Champions Cup. Tatran made a great start and led 2:0 in 85 seconds, but Bohemians gradually leveled the game and tied Buršík with Kvasnica in the second half. In the third period, Beneš scored first, but Jaroslav Petrák equalized. After a goalless extra time, the raids had to decide, in which only Šimon Batkovič made his mark.
“The first third from us was scary, we were very weak, a bad performance. In the second period we had the best performance, in the third period it was a toss-up, I’m angry because we got a goal on our power play, that’s a shame, and we didn’t give two power plays. We have to work on that because the Champions Cup is coming up. I’m happy because we won against the champion, but we have to keep trying, because we won’t succeed with such a performance,” said Michal Jedlička.
“I think we started well, the boys were focused. The lead lulled us a little, but in the third period we were troubled by finishing, we could have led by two or three goals. I believe the defeat was useful and will give us a kick. We need to get fit and get some players healthy. It has been confirmed that we are not in TOP form and we have to improve a lot of things. But we have to praise the boys for their commitment, it was clear that they wanted to,” said Milan Fridrich.
The second Prague derby of this round also surprised and did not bore. Chodov challenged Sparta and, after two balanced periods, scored five goals in less than eight minutes of the third period. Sparta was unable to respond to this direct, as its two goals were answered in the form of the same number of goals by Chodov.
After a goalless first half, the curtain opened for the performance of Pardubice, who escaped BLACK ANGELS with four goals, and although the Prague team was able to correct, Pardubice already secured a surprising and very valuable 5:3 win. In the first round, they answered in the affirmative to the question of how they will fare without the two point makers Lukáš Kučera and Adam Šmíd.
Although Lukáš Kučera did not score in the FBC Ostrava jersey, his team still turned the longest outing of the season into a gain of three points after not losing once in Karlovy Vary and winning 5:4. Pobořil contributed to this result with two goals and an assist.
Adam Šmíd then started his pilgrimage in the Vítkovic jersey with four points for two goals and two assists, his new team then defeated BUTCHIS in its extra-league premiere with a ratio of 12:3. The rookie of the competition thus ended his streak without defeat, but it is clear that the key matches for him are yet to come.
Liberec put on a great shooting performance, beating Královské Vinohrady 11:2 thanks to eleven hits. The Prague team had nothing to pay for even the premier intervention of the Swiss Keller, on the side of the winners, among other things, Korych established himself twice.
The program of the 1st round of the Livesport Superliga will conclude with the school match between Mlada Boleslaví and Česká Lípa.
