The 36-year-old from Sanremo is the former number nine in the world and has just as many ATP titles to his name – including victory at the Masters 1000 in Monte Carlo in 2019. “I’m really looking forward to the duel with him, especially because it takes place on the center court here in Styria. Of course I’m hoping for the home advantage,” said the man from Graz. Misolic moved into the round of 16 with a 6:1, 5:7, 6:3 over Timo Stodder (GER). The 2022 Kitzbühel finalist sees his chances: “I was still really small when Fabio was already playing successfully on the tour. His style of play is very interesting, but I will fight and hopefully leave the pitch as a winner again.”
Dennis Novak is one lap further. With a 6:4, 6:4 win over the Ukrainian Vitali Satschko, he is in the quarter-finals and will meet the Briton Jan Choinski. “It’s the first time since my injury that I’ve won two games in a row in straight sets.
