First Skimming for Archery Qualification for Paris Olympics: Twelve Archers Advance

A little less than a year from the Paris Olympic Games, a first (big) skimming has just taken place for the qualification in the archery events at the end of a first selection competition which s has been held in Compiègne (Oise) for a week. Of the 43 registered, only twelve archers have passed this first pitfall: six for men and six for women who will meet from September 18 for a training cycle before a new selection event, in January, which will not deliver only eight sesames (four per category) for the international season.

Among the men, the young (16) Baptiste Addis (Nîmes) won the competition. The three French archers present in Tokyo individually, Thomas Chirault (Clermont-Ferrand), Jean-Charles Valladont and Pierre Plihon (Nîmes), are still in the race. They are accompanied by Romain Fichet (Riom) and Nicolas Bernardi (Rennes).

On the women’s side, Lisa Barbelin (Riom), the only representative in Tokyo, won the event after an excellent start. Only 17 years old, Amélie Cordeau (Annemasse) finished second. Two Riom members, Audrey Adiceom and Caroline Lopez, as well as Anaël Coupard (Rennes), 2023 French Elite champion, Victoria Sebastian (Nîmes) complete the top 6 of the qualifiers.
