The Rabat FUS basketball team failed to reach the semi-finals of the Qatar International Championship that Doha is hosting from September 25 to 30, despite its victory Wednesday evening over its Lebanese counterpart Al-Hikma Beirut by 68 to 64, at the end of the first round matches.
This victory is the second for FUS in this tournament after that obtained in its first match against the Iraqi team Dejla University (92-79), and a defeat against the Beirut First club (63-81).
The two Lebanese teams obtained the same number of points as the FUS of Rabat, but the latter was unable to qualify for the next round due to the goal difference.
In addition to the FUS of Rabat, the tournament, organized by Doha Active Sports under the supervision of the Qatar Basketball Federation, sees the participation of the clubs Zamalek from Egypt, Beirut First and Al-Hikma Beirut from Lebanon, Al-Arabi from Kuwait, Al-Ahly from Libya and Dejla University from Iraq, as well as the professional team Meralco Bolts (Philippines).
