Golf, European Tour Aberg alone in the lead, Langasque 17th in the BMW PGA Championship

This Saturday took place the third round of the BMW PGA Championship, the fourth tournament of the Rolex Series, in Wentworth, England. Ludvig Aberg is now alone in the lead while Romain Langasque is very close to the top 10.

The crazy dynamic continues for Ludvig Aberg. Turning professional in June 2023, the Swede won his first victory on the DP World Tour less than two weeks ago in Switzerland. Selected immediately to participate in the Ryder Cup as part of the European team, the 23-year-old climbed to the top of the rankings for this BMW PGA Championship on Friday evening with his compatriot Sebastian Söderberg. On the occasion of this third round, the Scandinavian prodigy very quickly confirmed his position and now even occupies the leader’s chair alone (-16 total) after having returned a fine card of 66 (an eagle at 4, five birdies, a bogey).

Ludvig Aberg is two steps ahead of a duo composed of Tommy Fleetwood and Connor Syme (-14 total). After a rather solid first leg (two birdies, one bogey), the Scot moved up a gear by picking up four new birdies and an eagle at 12, to sign a superb score of 65. Three players then shared 4th place (- 13). We find there Aaron Rai, Ryan Fox and Callum Shinkwin. At home, the Englishman shone by recording a magnificent error-free score of 64, the best of the day (eight birdies), to gain 21 places in the rankings.
