Yesterday morning the inauguration ceremony of the Guatemala International Challenge Badminton Tournamentwhich takes place at the Teodoro Palacios Flores National Gymnasium.
With the presence of the president of the National Badminton Federation, Guillermo López, authorities of the Autonomous Sports Confederation of Guatemala (CDAG)athletes from the 32 participating delegations and the public from different educational centers, the kick-off was given, which was in charge of Kevin Cordón from Zacapaneco.
Likewise, immediately afterwards, a tribute was made to the 24-year career of the aforementioned athlete, who thanks to his effort and dedication reached fourth Olympic place in Tokyo 2020.
Cordón thanked the gesture of the sports leaders and reiterated his commitment to take Guatemala once again to the most important sports fairs on the planet, which will take place next year in Paris, France.
Finally, their coaches, José María Solís and Muamar Qadafi were also recognized for the development of this discipline in the national territory.
“We are ready for this tournament, which in our region is the most important, because due to its level, it awards many points for the ranking in the race to Paris 2024”, highlighted the selected one.
“Personally, I hope to advance as much as possible in the contest to add the largest number of units that allow me to continue among the best positioned on the continent until April, when the classification is over,” he argued.
“It feels very nice when they give you this type of recognition, especially when they remind you of the path you have traveled because, focused on the tournaments, you do not realize how much time has really passed and, for me, it is 24 years in this profession,” added the Left handed.
Cordón will see action this morning, on time and against a rival yet to be defined.
