Highlights from the Tennis Court: Djokovic’s Triumph, Spain’s Disappointment, and Murray’s Emotional Win

“I’m on cloud nine with everything that’s happened on the tennis court lately,” said Djokovic: “Playing for Serbia, for my country, is something completely different. It’s a big responsibility and a lot of pressure, but it is also a privilege and an honor.”

The knockout phase will be played in Malaga in November. Spain’s Davis Cup captain David Ferrer had dreamed of being able to nominate Carlos Alcaraz and possibly even Rafael Nadal there. But nothing will come of it – Spain is eliminated.

Meanwhile, Andy Murray won an emotional victory for Great Britain. After the 6:7 (7:9), 6:4, 6:4 against Swiss Leandro Riedi in Manchester, Murray revealed that he had missed his grandmother’s funeral because of the game.

“Today is a hard day for me, today is my grandma’s funeral. I’m sorry for my family that I can’t be there, but Granny, this is for you,” said Murray.
