Fans, atmosphere and organization at the NFL premiere in Germany received a lot of praise. After the great success of Seattle Seahawks – Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the Allianz Arena, further Germany games were quickly decided. Kansas City Chiefs – Miami Dolphins and New England Patriots – Indianapolis Colts will take place in Frankfurt in November.
Madrid is watching NFL games
Every year NFL live in Germany – the ever-growing fan base in this country rubs its hands. But despite the success story, the Germany Games could soon be in danger. Before Munich, Great Britain had already hosted several games, and London has a long-term contract with the National Football League. Now other cities and clubs are taking a look at the lucrative business.
In December, the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu will be completed after a long and expensive renovation phase. Home club Real Madrid has big plans – which also include NFL and NBA games. Similar ideas are probably already in the drawers of other European cities. And the NFL cannot move any number of games overseas.
Fewer Germany Games as early as 2024?
Five football games are already taking place in Europe this year. The NFL is scheduled to play in Mexico again in 2024, then only one game will be played in Germany. The contract with the NFL, which guaranteed four games in four years, ends in 2025. The success of the Munich Games is no guarantee for the future.
