Downer for Steijn: key player is missing in Classic against Feyenoord

Steven Bergwijn will not appear at the kick-off in De Klassieker against Feyenoord, De Telegraaf reports. The Ajax captain is struggling with an infected wisdom tooth and therefore has to miss the game. Steven Berghuis will take over the captaincy from Bergwijn and will probably take a place in the attack due to the latter’s absence.
According to the morning newspaper, Carlos Forbs, who was good for a goal and an assist in the 3-3 draw against Olympique Marseille, will take over Bergwijn’s place on the left. Berghuis will therefore leave for the other side, leaving a spot available in midfield for Branco van den Boomen. In the left wing position, Steijn may also have access to Mika Godts, where Georges Mikautadze is also still on the bench. The Georgian has also played from the left in the past.
