Auditioned is not the word, contacted yes. It’s very flattering to be contacted by OL, but I’m under contract with Red Star and very happy to be here. (…) Today, I have agents around me. It’s part of the football world to be in demand. (…) The most important thing is what I build with my team and I like it here. This doesn’t destabilize me. (…) I am under contract and I do not want to go elsewhere. My biggest wish is to take this team to the highest level”.

Under contract until 2025, the Senegalese is 1st in the National Championship with Red Star.

Gattuso spoke with Textor

Among all the candidates mentioned for the position recently, the Italian Gennaro Gattuso stands out. Pushed by his agent, the powerful Jorge Mendes, the transalpine coach had “a positive discussion” with the owner of OL, John Textor, according to journalist Fabrizio Romano. But “other candidates” will exchange with the American “Soon”before the French club, 18th in Ligue 1, positions itself to make a final decision.

The position could therefore escape Gennaro Gattuso, whose profile is not the most attractive a priori, particularly in comparison to the Austrian Oliver Glasner, winner of the Europa League in 2022.
