“Place I can call home”
The successful collaboration between Martin Ødegaard and Arsenal FC will continue in the long term. The 24-year-old midfielder has extended his contract with the Gunners, the Premier League club announced on Friday. Ødegaard was reportedly tied down until June 2028. When the new contract expires, the Norwegian would be 29.
The left-footed player moved from Real Madrid to the Londoners in the summer of 2021 after a previous loan for 35 million euros. On the island, the former giant talent made his final breakthrough and was even promoted to captain. Ødegaard scored 27 goals and 15 assists in 112 competitive games and gradually increased his market value from 40 million to his previous best of 90 million euros. In the “Gunners” squad, only Bukayo Saka is valued higher at 120 million euros.
“The decision to sign a new contract was very easy for me for many reasons. Above all, what we are doing as a club is something special and I want to be a part of it. I’m really looking forward to what’s to come here. I have found a place where I feel really comfortable and that I can call home. (…) I would just like to thank everyone who works at the club and of course our fantastic fans. I will continue to give everything in the coming years to make this club successful,” explained Ødegaard.

Sporting director Edu said: “The agreement and conclusion of a new contract with Martin is great news for all of us. He is our captain, an experienced international and a player who brings us so much quality and joy every time he plays for us. Martin is only 24 years old, so he still has a lot ahead of him and we are happy that we will stay together for the next few years. Our aim is to retain our best players and with Martin now included, we are pleased to have signed new long-term contracts with a number of our key young players in recent months.” 13 professionals are at Arsenal at least until Bound in 2028. The fourth-place team in the Premier League has the second-highest squad value in an international comparison with 1.09 billion euros.
