Michael Ballack wants short-term success in the national coach search

Former national team captain Michael Ballack doesn’t believe in hiring a “concept coach” with a long-term focus as Hansi Flick’s successor.

“I think that the perspective has to be subordinated at the moment because success is above all else,” said the 46-year-old to the editorial network Germany: “In general, it is complicated these days to plan long-term, even in the national team, because that is very important a trainer and his orientation would be related.”

In Ballack’s opinion, the fact that the unsuccessful Flick had to vacate his position as national coach is also due to his predecessor’s long term in office: “Joachim Löw and Hansi Flick were quite similar in their approach, spoke almost the same language, but that no longer has any effect grabbed.”
