With the aim of encouraging musical diversity and including various sectors of society in a celebration to commemorate International Music Day, the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM) invites citizens to the Music Against Forgetting Festival that will be held in the islands.
The festival will bring a range of renowned artists in the Mexican music industry, focusing on electronic music, hip hop and rock pop, so get ready for an afternoon full of dancing.

Festival dates and times
If you don’t have a plan for Saturday, October 14, the Music Against Forgetting Festival will take place in Las Islas starting at 4:00 p.m. There will be various bands including Dj Karim Caleth, Nortec: Bostich + Fussible, Instituto Mexicano del Sonido and many more. Here is the list of all the invited artists:
DJ Karim Caleth
The Mexico City DJ and promoter became involved in the local hip hop scene. He is now experimenting with mixes between reggaeton, funk, house, reggae and pop.
Nortec: Bostich + Fussible
The northern electro music duo formed in 1999 emerged in the city of Tijuana, Baja California. Initially it emerged as a collective made up of Bostich, Clorofila, Hiperboreal, Panoptica, Fussible and Nortec.
The group is made up of Bostich (Ramón Amezcua) and Fussible (Pepe Mogt) and their music mixes the Sinaloa band and the drum with samples. Each musician produces their own LP with the Nortec Collective symbol and under the Mil Records record label.
Mexican Institute of Sound (IMS)
The Música contra el Olvido Festival will bring one of the Mexican electronic music groups recognized both inside and outside the country. Camilo Lara is the head of the project, he is a Grammy winner, he has been nominated 4 times for the Latin Grammys, he has worked with Lila Downs, Norah Jones and Band of Horses.
He has been part of great projects such as the GTA V soundtrack with the East FM station, in the Pixar film “Coco”, and his music has appeared in series such as Narcos, Breaking Bad and Ugly Betty.
The Wookies
This group formed by Hugo Díaz Barreiro (Calacas) and Andre Fernández (Andre VII) will make you dance all day with their techno, house and disco. The Wookies have participated in major festivals worldwide such as Tomorrowland or Glastonbury and have been on stages with The Chemical Brothers, Die Antwoord, DJ Mehdí and Steve Aoki.
Tex Tex
The band from 1985 is from San Juan Ixtenco, municipality of Tlaxcala and mixes rock with rhythm & blues, corridos and Latin rhythms, which they called “ejidal rock.” They are popular on the urban rock circuit and are known in Mexico, the United States and Central America.
GRLS
The duet made up of Lucca Necoechea and Diego Andlovin are two Mexicans who created GRLS in 2018. Inspired by British artists such as Mura Masa, PinkPantheress and Shygirl, the group offers a dream pop experience with psychedelia.
