Wim Fissette will coach Naomi Osaka at the Australian Open

Actually, Qinwen Zheng would have had every reason to be happy after her triumph at the “Asian Games”. But instead, after her victory, the Chinese woman had to comment on the separation from her ex-coach Wim Fissette – and did not leave the successful Belgian coach in good stead.

“I understand his decision, but my family and I feel hurt. At the moment, I don’t want to talk about this person,” Zheng explained. Fissette broke the contract between the two. “This is very immoral.” The 43-year-old has not yet commented on his former protégé’s statements.

Osaka wants to return in 2024

Meanwhile, Fissette returns to Naomi Osaka. According to reports, the two will begin working together again next week. The four-time Grand Slam winner from Japan wants to be back on the match court at the Australian Open 2024 after her pregnancy.

With Osaka, Fissette won the US Open in 2020 and the Australian Open at the beginning of 2021. Before that, the Belgian had already led Kim Clijsters to three Grand Slam titles, as well as Sabine Lisicki to the Wimbledon final in 2013. Fissette also worked successfully with Simona Halep, Viktoria Azarenka and Johanna Konta.
