Aného, September 05, 2023 (Lomé Actu) – Thursday, September 7 will mark the start of the celebrations for the 360th edition of the religious festival of Epé Ekpé in Guin country. Traditionally anchored in the Lakes with the ritual taking of the sacred stone in Glidji Kpodji, this year, basketball is invited.
The 2023 edition of the taking of the sacred stone has a special surprise in store for the festivities. A brand new basketball tournament in 3×3 format, called “Open 3×3 Epé Ekpé 2023”.
Open 3×3 Epé Ekpé : The fusion of culture and basketballl
On Saturday, September 9, from 8 a.m., the Boka d’Aného court will be the scene of a fascinating fusion between the rich culture of the Guin people and the effervescent passion for basketball. This tournament will bring together 12 teams in a unique musical atmosphere. Team registrations are open at the rate of 15,000 CFA francs per team.
At the end of the fierce battles, the winning teams will therefore be rewarded. The first, second and third will receive prizes of 150,000, 100,000 and 50,000 CFA francs respectively. Special prizes will also be awarded. The MVP award (Most Valuable Player) and the award for the best FairPlay team, are also planned. Each winning team will receive 50,000 CFA francs.
Besides the tournament, a festive atmosphere will reign throughout the day. There will be stands offering grilled meats and refreshing drinks for everyone to enjoy.
