Continuing with the participation of Santa Cruz in the national finals of the Evita 2023 Games, the provincial selection, with the support of the Government of Santa Cruz, through the Ministry of Social Development, had a positive day, which added medals, passes to semifinals, and finals in different disciplines.
U14 women’s badminton began the day with two wins, first against Corrientes, and then against Tierra del Fuego; as in women’s doubles, beating Santa and Chaco. In the men’s division they defeated Salta and La Pampa. In doubles, they first beat Córdoba, but they couldn’t beat Río Negro. In women’s U14 fencing they finished the day in 4th and 5th place; while, in men’s under-14 they obtained fourth position.
Regarding 5v5 basketball, in the U15 women’s category Córdoba won 92 to 22; In sub-17, the team from Santiago del Estero won by 68 to 57. In men, the Buenos Aires team won by 101 to 73. In women’s basketball sub-14, Salta was triumphant by 38 to 22. Regarding women’s mountain biking, in under14 category, they finished in 15th place, and in the under16 category in 20th place. In the under14 men’s category they finished in 20th position.
Mixed soccer faced Formosa, with the match going in favor of the latter by 3 to 1. In U14 women’s soccer 11 they tied 1 to 1 with Formosa; In the sub16 they beat the Formosa girls 2 to 0. In the sub14 men’s they tied 0 to 0 with Neuquén; in sub16 they lost against Entre Ríos by 1 to 0. In women’s futsal sub15 they beat Córdoba by 15 to 3; and in men’s under-15 they took the victory, defeating Chubut by 13 to 0. In table tennis, all the teams (men and women) made it to the finals, also highlighting the gold for Renzo Capdevila in adapted table tennis .
Continuing with the excellent results, the U14 men’s handball team beat San Juan 37 to 6; while in the U16 they lost against Córdoba, and then beat Santiago del Estero by 32 to 27. Regarding the beach version, the men’s team could not beat Córdoba, ending the match 2 to 1. The U14 women’s hockey finished the day with a victory over Río Negro by 2 to 0; and in the U16 team they lost to Corrientes 1-0. In the U14 men’s team, La Rioja won on penalties 2-0; Similar situation in the U16s, with penalties in favor of Córdoba.
In artistic swimming under 14 they finished in 6th and 9th place.
Regarding the U14 female Optimist, they finished the day of competition in 14th place; and in men’s in position 18. In men’s under-14 padel, Chaco won 2 to 0. Men’s under-16 rugby ended with two defeats, first against Salta, and then against Buenos Aires. In U15 women’s volleyball, the provincial team was unable to beat Chubut, with a result of 2 to 0; while in sub17 the result was the same against Santa Fe. In the men’s sub15 branch they beat Santiago del Estero and Neuquén. In the men’s U17 they beat La Rioja 2 to 0. The women’s U14 beach volleyball ended with the victory of Jujuy by 2 to 1; and the sub14 concluded with the victory of Santa Fe by 2 to 0.
In karate, Valentina Chaparro defeated her opponent from Tierra del Fuego in kumite; and Santiago Martínez defeated his opponents from Chaco and Tierra del Fuego; and Lua Romero defeated her opponent from Jujuy. In swimming for people with disabilities
The athletics team also had a very good day and performance, with the consecration of Santiago Guidetti as national runner-up in the 110m hurdles; and the pass at the end of Cielo Martínez and Candela Barria in high jump; Amaro López in shot put; and Nahuel Bazán in the 2000 meters.
