“Our athletes are a priority and that is why we are working so that they have a very complete cycle and reach the next national with many tools, not only in the sporting part but also mentally, this within the framework of the New Agreement for the Welfare and Development, which our governor Mara Lezama promotes,” commented Eric Arcila.
The psychologist from the State High Performance Sports Center (CEDAR) of Cancún, Mónica Schoenfelde, heads this work and is the one who carried out the batteries of tests on the Quintana Roo athletes, who develop in the disciplines of field hockey, swimming, boxing , weightlifting, judo, archery, shooting sports, table tennis, gymnastics, trampoline gymnastics, associated wrestling and taekwondo.
“Our athletes are starting their macrocycles and just as in the sporting field they do physical tests, also in the psychological field it is important to subject them to tests to learn more about them and make a diagnosis, so that together with the coaches we can care for them and help them to improve their mental strength and that this will help them with their future skills,” commented psychologist Mónica Schoenfelde.
The athletes of the entity and who belong to CEDAR Cancún, were subjected to a test battery, which is a set of questionnaires to know and analyze their self-esteem, attention-concentration, self-efficacy, self-confidence, as well as their types of anxiety. during the competition.
At the same time, the psychologist has also held meetings and an informative talk with the mothers and fathers of the Quintana Roo athletes, “this is a team effort, that is why we involve the parents, so that they have knowledge of how to his children work and also the importance that an athlete must have that openness for his mental strengthening and that is necessary for his development,” added Mónica Schoenfelde.
