German Cup Standings Hamburg Stealers – Guggenberger Legionnaires Regensburg 0-1 (best-of-3 series)

The Guggenberg Legionnaires Regensburg won game one of their best-of-3 series in the second round of the German Cup Baseball at the Hamburg Stealers early on Saturday evening with 10-0. Five runs in the first two innings and five in the eighth period made the success for the Upper Palatinate team in the Hanseatic city perfect. Games two and possibly three will take place again in Hamburg on Sunday.

RBI singles from Nino Sacasa and Daniel Patrice gave the guests a 3-0 lead in the first period. One run later, David Dinski made it 5-0 with an RBI double and Alexander Schmidt with an RBI single. The pitchers then dueled for six innings until Regensburg made everything clear with RBI singles from Dinski, Schmidt, Devon Ramirez, Eric Harms and Jonathan Heimler.

On the mound, Christian Pedrol laid the foundation for success with eight shutout innings. He allowed five hits and four walks, but no runs. He sent eight batters back to the dugout with a strikeout. On the other side, Austin Hassani suffered the loss after 5 1/3 innings, eight hits, five runs (2 ER) and one base on balls.
