Roman Safiullin played his way to the quarter-finals at Wimbledon.
After the defeat in his final debut on the ATP tour, Safiullin thought about the long path that the current number 41 in the ranking had to take. First and foremost, he thanked his wife, who accompanied him at futures tournaments many years ago and is now reaping the rewards of years of hard work with him.

It was only last year that the 26-year-old Russian made it into the top 100 in the world rankings. At the beginning of the year, Safiullin won a title on the Challenger Tour at the tournament in Koblenz. Thanks to his sensational run at Wimbledon, which was only stopped by Jannik Sinner in the quarterfinals, Sorung made it into the top 50 players in the world. Another milestone for Safiullin, who previously ranked between 100 and 200 for many years and was an established player on the Challenger Tour.
In his youth, alongside Medvedev, Rublev and Khachanov
By reaching the final in Chengdu, we can now celebrate a new career high with 41st place. Proof that you don’t have to make the big leap at a young age to start your professional career. Not even with a player who took second place in the junior world rankings and played together with Medvedev, Rublev and Khachanov in his youth. Despite his extensive experience in the professional business, Roman Safiullin is likely to be considered by many as one of the rising stars of 2023.
