Rubiales affair: former coach Jorge Vilda indicted

We haven’t heard the last of the Rubiales affair. The judge in charge of the forced kiss affair which is shaking Spain summoned former Roja women’s coach Jorge Vilda to appear this Wednesday. Albert Ruque, sports director of the national team, and Ruben Rivera, marketing director of the Spanish Federation, are also accused by Francisco de Jorge, the judge of the national court.

According to the information of El Confidencial, the former coach, world champion in August, would have exerted pressure on Jennifer Hermoso’s brother. The main person concerned who testified this Monday in camera, in favor of his sister’s complaint, allegedly admitted to having been pressured by Jorge Vilda.

Three players will testify

The former coach was fired three weeks after the start of the affair. “I have a clear conscience. I didn’t understand my dismissal. I didn’t expect it (…) When I saw the images, I thought it was an inappropriate gesture. I am a coach, it is not up to me to make announcements and say whether to fire him or not,” he reacted, denying any request to the player or her entourage to cover up the matter. He will still have to explain this point on October 10, in the company of Albert Ruque and Ruben Rivera.

Before that, three players including double Golden Ball winner Alexia Putellas were also called to the stand. Meanwhile, Luis Rubiales still refutes any pressure put on Jennifer Hermoso. This is why the judge is currently looking into Rubiales’ relatives, including Jorge Vilda.
