AND Samuel Giuseri the first name registered in the roll of honor of Castelli Romani Marathon. The race, created in Lariano by the Full Gas Bike Team, immediately achieved great success, attracting many bikers, thanks also to its membership of the New Marathon Lazio circuit. A route as beautiful as it was challenging saw the bikers compete over 63.5 km with a difference in altitude of 2,100 metres: on the eve it was thought that Giuseri could make the breakthrough, given the form shown last Sunday with second place at the Straccabike, but the representative of Piesse Cycling found great resistance in Mattia Toccafondi (Ciclissimo Bike) with whom he shared the decisive breakaway.
The solution to the race came only at the end, when with a long sprint Giuseri stopped the clock at 2h48’11” with 2″ on his rival, third was the accredited Ligurian Michele Piras (Marchisio Bici) at 1’45” . Maria Elena Saffioti of the organizing company took the victory among women in 4h40’07” with 4’26” over Vanessa Buzzanca (Aniene Bike Team) and 8’02” over Margherita Garavini (Ciclo Tech).
In the average route of 42.1 km for 1,260 metres, first place went to Federico Bartolini (Adventure Bike) in 1h53’55” with 5’37” on Gabriele Bastianelli (Piesse Cycling) and 6’23” on Stefano Fiorini (Ciociaria Bike) , while in the women’s field the victory went to Marcella Di Fiore (Center Bike) in 2h38097″ ahead of Giorgia Montefusco (Disoflex) by 5’33” and Simona Cianchella (Team Bike Palombara Sabina) by 16’08”.
There were many participants in the race and also many volunteers deployed along the route. For the Lariano event it was an absolute first which confirmed that the idea absolutely must be carried forward, thanks also to the support of the Municipalities of Lariano and Velletri and the Castelli Romani Regional Park. Thanks also to all the associations and sponsors who supported the initiative. Next stage of the New Marathon Lazio circuit on 15 October, with the closing of the challenge entrusted to the GF Sulla Via di Ulisse in Sperlonga-Itri (LT).
