Schalke gets their second win of the season in a goal spectacle

Michael Langer was back in goal for FC Schalke on Saturday for the first time in over two years. The 38-year-old Austrian came on as a substitute in the 44th minute in the home game of the Second German Bundesliga against 1. FC Magdeburg when the score was 1:2 and brought the traditional club to a 4:3 victory. Regular goalkeeper Marius Müller got stuck in the grass when he hit the ball and was no longer able to continue playing.

It was the second win of the season for the relegated team in front of 61,000 spectators, which helped them move into the middle of the table. Magdeburg suffered its first defeat of the season and missed the chance to lead the table, which Fortuna Düsseldorf took over.

Fortuna won 3-1 at Hansa Rostock and benefited from Hamburger SV’s first defeat of the season. The Hanseatic League lost 2-1 against newly promoted SV Elversberg, in which Nicolas Kristof, Paul Wanner and Nico Antonitsch were used. Like HSV, Fortuna has 13 points, but the better goal difference.
