Two silver medals arrive for Italy from today’s finals of the Olympic Pit of the European Shooting Championships. In the women’s race, the Italian Silvana Stanco placed second, with 38/50 behind the 22-year-old Portuguese Maria Ines Coelho De Barros (43/50), who in addition to the gold also gave her country the Olympic pass to Paris .
Bronze went to the Spanish Fatima Galvez, one of the champions of this specialty, while the London 2012 Olympian, Jessica Rossi, placed only 16th.
Then it was the turn of the men’s final, where three of the six participants were Italian. But the winner, with 48/50, was the Croatian Giovanni Cernogoraz, already Olympic gold medalist in London 2012, who beat Mauro De Filippis by a single target. Bronze went to the Frenchman Sebastien Guerrero, while the silver medalist of the London Games, the Carabiniere from the Marche Massimo Fabbrizi, placed fourth ahead of the Italian veteran (53 years old) Giovanni Pellielo, fifth.
