Successful 5th Zonal Children’s Judo Meeting and 36th Patagonian Judo Children’s Festival Held at Nehuén Club

Last Saturday, at the facilities of the Nehuén Social and Sports Club, the “5th zonal children’s judo meeting of the Golfo San Jorge” and the “36th Patagonian Judo children’s festival” took place. The event was organized by the Civil, Sports, Social and Cultural Association of the Argentine Union of Martial Arts “Comodoro Rivadavia” (UAAM), with the support of the Comodoro Deportes Autárquico Entidad.

The zonal sports meeting had the participation of the two organizing Judo Schools and another from Caleta Olivia. In the first stage, we worked on the exchange and technical enrichment of the participants with a class led by teacher Pablo Saúl Cosentino (7th dan) and instructor Luis Alberto Hernández (1st dan of Judo and 2nd dan of BJJ).

Subsequently, the work on the tatami continued with a series of children’s games that help improve the technical conditions of the judokas in their childhood training process.

Regarding the “36th Patagonian Judo Children’s Festival”, the jury was made up of Professor Gilda Garnica (silver medalist in the ODESUR Games, in Nage No Kata, and the first judoka from Chubut to qualify as national champion -year 1989- ), the instructor Luis Hernández and the teacher Pablo Saúl Cosentino, with the collaboration – in the arbitration – of the instructor Leonardo Luna.

This festival was held with the first round of exhibitions, where initially those registered in the Mosquitoes category (6 years old) performed, then the Lizards category (7 and 8 years old), Promotional (9 and 10 years old), Children “A ” (11 and 12 years old) and Children “B” (13 and 14 years old at the date of the festival).

Those who reached the podium were athletes from the Nehuén Club and the civil association Unión Argentina de Artes Marciales Comodoro Rivadavia (UAAM), with the latter institution winning in four of the five categories.

It was also highlighted that those from the UAAM only won gold and silver medals. In this unique team made up for the first time by three grandchildren of the remembered sensei Marcos Emilio Garnica, the three – with their corresponding exhibition partners – achieved first places.

After two rounds of exhibitions in the “Mosquitoes” category, the girls Azul Olima and Lara Suyai Garnica (UAAM) reached the top of the podium. In the “Push-ups” category, María Victoria Peneff and Liam Piñeyro Garnica) were the ones who achieved gold in a very tight definition since with the pair of Maximiliano Martínez and Felipe Zaragoza (Club Nehuén) they tied on 38 points after the first two rounds and The same thing happened after a third round, for which they had to repeat their exhibitions for the fourth time so that the jury could determine which were the best.

In Children “A” the champions – with 54 points out of 60 – were Laurent Sofía Peneff Amaya and Taddeo Cuevas Cuenca (UAAM), over the 52 points achieved by Jerónimo Salicas with Laurent Sofía Peneff Amaya (UAAM) and the 50 points achieved by Bastian Mansutti and Ignacio Martinovick (Club Nehuén), among others. In Children “B” (sub 15) the winning couple was Priscilla Mariel Appiolaza Garnica and Bastian Mansutti (UAAM and Club Nehuén respectively), with 53 points.

Then the jury, observing the scores achieved, determined that the couple that obtained the highest score, in the general classification – in the comparison between all the participating categories – to accredit the two “Dr. Carlos Eduardo Filgueira Lima Master Challenger Cups” that were awarded. have been in dispute since 2011, they were again won by Laurent Sofía Peneff Amaya and Taddeo Cuevas Cuenca (UAAM).
