This second excursion, approximately 3 hours, is located near Ligurian finalan ideal area both for spending seaside holidays and for dedicating yourself to outdoor sports.
If, in addition to being passionate about hiking, you are also passionate about history, this is the perfect route for you: in fact, here you can retrace the footsteps of Napoleon Bonaparte. We start from the ancient gate of Finalborgo to take the Napoleonic path dating back to the end of the 18th century on the right. Continuing you reach the Regina Pacis chapel from which you will be able to see the panorama overlooking Finale and further on you will be able to glimpse Borgio Verezzi and the island of Gallinara. On the way back you will have the opportunity to visit Verezzi and appreciate the characteristic Ligurian terraces with olive groves and vineyards. The excursion, which ends in Finalborgo across Mount Caprazoppa, is mainly recommended for the spring and autumn months.
Also in the area you may find the Capo Noli Ring interesting, one of the most famous routes in the Finalese area.
3. Itinerary of the witches of Triora
For the third excursion in the Riviera di Ponente we chose a path that mixes with legend. This small town of 400 inhabitants in the province of Imperia is in fact known for having been, at the end of the 14th century, the scene of the worst witch hunt of all time and for this reason nicknamed the Salem of Italy.
From Triora, today also known as the city of witches, a path starts which requires a travel time of 5 hours and which will give you the opportunity to admire the valley Argentina and the remains of the church of Santa Caterina.
Once you cross the Valley of the Capriolo torrent you will arrive in Goina, a historic village in the Maritime Alps which represents the second stage of our journey. Continue towards Passo della Guardia and then head towards Triora from which you can admire the view of the villages located at the foot of the path.
Also for this itinerary the recommended seasons are spring and autumn.
4. Walk on Via Iulia Augusta
Another, among the many excursions in Liguria that is worth doing, is the Via Iulia Augusta, near Alassio. This route which will take you for about an hour and a half, mixes hiking, history and archaeology and it can be practiced by anyone.
The itinerary that winds between Albenga and Alassio is the road that centuries ago led to Gaul. We start from Alassio, precisely in Piazzale Santa Croce.
All the way you will have the opportunity to see the island of Gallinara and walk along the remains of the paving that were part of the Roman roads. Furthermore, as you continue you will find a necropolis on the path and, on private property, an amphitheater and an ancient Roman pylon.
5. Path from Rocchetta Nervina to Ponte Paù
This trek lasting a couple of hours, depending on your pace, starts from the ancient village of Nervina Rocchetta and it is also passable with the little ones.
After passing the Barbaira stream, take the road that leads to the small church of San Bernardo which is located on an ancient and panoramic mule track. We continue through the valley rich in vegetation to then arrive at Paù Bridge.
Under the bridge are the small lakes and the waterfalls of the Sgorea streama tributary of the Barbaira stream, where you can relax and refresh yourself with a bath.
6. Excursion on foot from Sasso to Vallebona
The last of the excursions in Liguria that we propose will make you discover the villages that they constitute Bordighera. The route starts from Bordighera Alta and takes the Strada degli Inglesi heading north.
From here you can admire Toraggio and Pietravecchia, two of the most challenging peaks in the Ligurian Alps. Reach Sasso from where you can admire the sea below from the panoramic terrace.
You will have to continue along the mule track and then descend towards the stream that separates Sasso from Vallebona. Once here, you will enter the typical Mediterranean scrub along a path that will take you to the bridge to Vallebona, an ancient and characteristic Ligurian village where you can see what remains of the old fortifications.
