New initiative of the Panathlon Club International of Latina. The book ‘Bruno Laurenzi, Nettuno and Baseball’ written jointly by Pio Trippa and Camillo Palma together with the great champion from Neptune and Italy, with the presentation by Giampiero Faraone and the preface by Carlo Eufemi.
The idea for the work was born and grew during the many meetings that the authors, together with Laurenzi, conducted in schools and other contexts in which the testimony of love for the game was brought to young and very young audiences.
The book is divided into three parts, the first illustrates the parable of the discipline in Neptune, its birth, development, its influence and importance in the social context of the Tyrrhenian town, the second tells the personal story of Bruno Laurenzi, a reference athlete in city and in the national team, the third attempts an analysis of the difficulties that sport encounters in conquering the new generations, in Nettuno and throughout the country, suggesting some solutions from the authors.
“After sharing this project with Dr. Pio Trippa and the champion Bruno Laurenzi, of Nettuno baseball and the Italian national team of the 70s – says Camillo Palma – referring to the story of the champion Bruno, we have created a picture of the current situation of baseball in that of Nettuno, trying to list a series of actions of rebirth and change, given the strong rooting of this sport in the social fabric of the city, applying the logic of marketing and management tools.”
The book, created thanks to the contribution of the Banca di Credito Cooperativo di Nettuno, is distributed free of charge, while copies last, during the presentation meetings, and can be requested via email to Palma himself ([email protected]) indicating his name and address.
“We hope to be able to encourage further growth and development projects for future generations, and, as happened to myself and the champion Bruno, we still remember the happy experiences of our youth with Italian diamonds. Me with Anzio baseball and, as far as Bruno is concerned, on diamonds all over the world.”
